Out Of Hours

If you require medical assistance out of hours please call

NHS 24 on 111 (This is a new number effective from 29 April 2014 - it is a free phone number

or visit their web site at www.nhs24.com

Your call will be answered by an NHS 24 nurse advisor who will ask about your symptoms and advise you what to do.

If you need to see a GP out-of-hours, the nurse advisor will arrange this through Lothian Unscheduled Care Service that operates a number of Primary Care Centres including one based at St. John's Hospital.

NHS nurse advisors will also offer appropriate advice during the normal working day but you may then be advised to contact your GP for further assessment.
