Out Of Hours

If you require medical assistance out of hours please call NHS 24 on 111 (This is a new number effective from 29 April 2014 – it is a free phone number or visit their web site at www.nhs24.com.

Your call will be answered by an NHS 24 nurse advisor who will ask about your symptoms and advise you what to do.

If you need to see a GP out-of-hours, the nurse advisor will arrange this through Lothian Unscheduled Care Service that operates a number of Primary Care Centres including one based at St. John’s Hospital.

NHS nurse advisors will also offer appropriate advice during the normal working day but you may then be advised to contact your GP for further assessment.


Emergencies

To request the assistance of the Duty Doctor during surgery hours contact reception on 01506 836300 (Option 2).

The duty doctor is available to deal with urgent problems or to help out during busy spells. If you require medical assistance out of hours please call NHS 24 on 111.

In an extreme emergency consider calling an ambulance (Dial 999).


When The Surgery Is Closed NHS 24

Carmondean Medical Group is closed from:

6.00 pm to 8.00 am Monday to Thursday
and
6.00 pm on Friday to 8.00 am on Monday

We are also closed on certain public holidays as determined by the Health Board (see our website for an up to date list).

If you need advice, or the services of a Doctor when the Health Centre is closed, you should telephone NHS 24 on 111.

What If I Contact NHS24 During Normal Working Hours?

NHS 24 nurse advisors are also able to offer appropriate advice during the normal working day, you will receive full nurse-led consultation, although you may then be advised to contact your general practice for further assessment.
